Health cannot be a question of income; it is a fundamental human right.”
~Nelson Mandela

Dr. Franklin expressed interest in becoming a physician at a very early age. One of his fondest childhood memories is learning to take vitals, before he was of school age, with his toy stethoscope and reflex hammer. His passions for learning and understanding followed him to Nashville, TN where he graduated with a B.A. in Medicine, Health & Society from Vanderbilt University in 2012. During his studies, he learned to appreciate the complex cultural, socioeconomic and epidemiological factors that influence health and healthcare today. He exemplified what he learned by acting as a student leader for the Nashville Mobile Market, a student organized mobile grocery store aimed at actively combating food insecurity in the Nashville metro area through weekly visits to food deserts to offer fresh produce and wholesome pantry items at affordable prices.

While preparing to enroll into medical school and witnessing the 5-15 minute appointments the allopathic doctors he was shadowing were constrained to, Dr. Franklin was introduced to naturopathic medicine. He soon learned about the principles of naturopathy and promptly knew where his medical career needed to go. Graduating in 2018 from the National University of Natural Medicine with his doctorate in Naturopathy and 1st MS in Nutrition as well as his 2nd MS, in 2020, in Ayurveda, Dr. Franklin has had the opportunity for mentorship in gastrointestinal, mental and community health. In addition to gut health, nutrition and Ayurveda, Dr. Franklin’s clinical interests include botanical medicine, somatic therapy and aromatherapy.

Outside of clinic, Dr. Franklin spends his free time honing his culinary skills, mixing music, studying mysticism and playing board games.
